Episode 1: Volume 1 - Animated FMV games

TBA · 23m

Retro Core is back. In this new series I finally have a green screen although my use of it in this first show isn't too good. Better lighting is needed I think. Also in this new series each show will have it's own theme plus I'll be using 100% real hardware. No emulation at all.

Episode 2: Volume 2 - Neo Geo Ports

Aug 24, 2014 · 28m

Volume 2 of Retro Core 5 is here, taking a look at Neo Geo ports acrosss 16 and 32 bit systems. 12 games in total are covered. Of course I'd love to cover more but there are at least 20 or so on the Sega Saturn alone. You may be wondering what happened to the likes of Twinkle Star Sprites or Puzzle Bobble or even some other the other fighting games on the Game Gear or Game Boy. Well, they will be covered in the 2nd part of this show which will be coming later in the year so don't worry. I've not forgotten about them :) This show only takes a look at some of the 16 and 32 bit ports.

Episode 5: Volume 5 - Pandora's Box 3 Arcade review

Oct 12, 2015 · 30m

NOTICE: The video quality of the Pandora's Box when connected to the capture card is not a fault of the Pandora's Box. The image is rather funky due to my capture card not liking the Supergun's video output. Pandora's Box 3, some people love it, others hate it. Many of the reviews are also quite bias. Today I take a look at the Pandora's Box 3 and tell you the truth about this little box of arcade hits.

Back in the mid to early 90's there were not that many polygon based arcade games mainly due to the technology being too expensive and well, really slow. In the late 80's and early 90's home computer games were hit and miss in the west while most arcade conversions were a joke. In japan on the other had the world of computer gaming was a whole different story. We had the Sharp X68000 bringing us arcade perfect ports but at a very expensive price. This is where the Fujitsu FM Towns comes in. It's basically an Intel CPU powered PC with later models being able to run Windows. Yet it also features custom graphical hardware.
