Trading Spaces was an hour-long American television reality program that aired from 2000 to 2008 on the cable channels TLC and Discovery Home. The format of the show was based on the BBC TV series Changing Rooms. The show ran for eight seasons.
With 70% of a nationwide vote, the Light Blue Team of Jon and Stacy Laymon of Ocoee, Florida, have won the eight-week competition that was Trading Spaces: Home Free over Angel and Vilma Rivera of Kissimmee, Florida. They won up to $350,000 to pay off their mortgage. Whether or not they were winners, both the Riveras and the Laymons were the recipients of up to $27,000 in room renovations courtesy of their Home Free competitors. The first round featured a $2,000 bedroom renovation, the second a $5,000 living room redesign, and in the third, new appliances and other niceties resulted in kitchen makeovers valued at up to $20,000.
