'The king shall rejoice', one of the four anthems written for the coronation of George II in 1727 is, like its companion 'Zadok the priest', a brilliant work for chorus and orchestra. 'Music for the Royal Fireworks' celebrates the Peace of Aix-la-Chapelle which ended the prolonged war of the Austrian succession.
